Blog: How have you adjusted to PBL? Is it harder in some classes than in others? Now that you have been through a semester of PBL, do you prefer it or do you prefer traditional ways of learning (worksheets, bookwork, taking notes off the board while the teacher talks). Explain why you prefer one or the other.

PBL is harder because there are more work to do such as projects. i like taking notes better off the board while the teacher is talking because that's when i can learn about the material more and get a better understanding of it. we don't have books so therefore the book wouldn't be a option but if we did the book would be more helpful . i'll take a worksheet after notes are being taken . but out of all the 3 i'll choose taking notes while the teacher is talking .
ReplyDeleteIm adjuesting to PBL just fine. Yes, I do think its harder in some claases than others. I like doing PBL but we do to many projects!
ReplyDeleteHow have you adjusted to PBL?
ReplyDeleteI guess I have gotten used to the fact that our school is PBL, however, i do not like PBL. So, to answer the question, yes i have adjusted to it.
Is it harder in some classes than in others?
It is definitely harder in some classes rather than the others. For example, in elective classes projects consist of doing brochures. But in my core classes such as yours the projects are harder.

I do NOT prefer PBL to traditional learning. I like projects, however, having a project due in every class every week is hard to keep up with. I would much rather do a project every so often as to doing one project in every class each week.
This is sort of a trick question. I like the new system but then again with my ADHD it's hard for me to stay focused and not veer off on to other sites. The books and paper would be a better way of learning simply because if we did it that was the information would be in bedded in our minds. Not to mention our penmanship with be much better as well. But sometimes these computers aren't so bad, being able to use the internet at any time to help with class work and to communicate with teachers without having to leave a class and disturb another. Math seems to be the only class that PBL isn't fully inquired in yet. math work has to be worked out on paper in order to show work and understand the steps.
ReplyDeletepbl is really easier to me. Pbl gets the job done quicker
ReplyDeleteJALEN TOWNS
When it comes to PBL, I think it has its benefits and its downfalls. PBL is an easier and smarter way of learning but you may not also get as much information out of it as you should. With my 4th block class, which is History, its very hard because we only have about 45 minutes to leanring a semesters worth of information. I am struggling to get all of the work done. I think that PBL is a great way of learning but having a 45 minute class isnt.
ReplyDeleteI think PBL is harder because we had more work and less time to do it. I would rather go back to having books because half of the time the computers doesn't work. Some students can do better when they are copying notes from the bored.
ReplyDeleteAlso having books will keep alot of students grades come up.
yes im kinda use to it now. It was diffcult at first, but now its easing up a bit. It helps a lot when you dont understand something and you have your classmates to ask for help.
ReplyDeletePBL is much harder than last semester. This semester the pressure is on for us because in almost all of our classes there is a project. And it is hard for us to do because of working with some group members that are not cooperating and those who are not contributing to the work that the group as a whole has assigned to one another.
ReplyDeleteI think PBL is okkk..... but ii think ii would prefer paper, and txt books because ii hate gettn gettin on the computer all the time, and we do wayyyy to many projects.
ReplyDeletePBL to me is ok but not what im really used to as much im used to learned by things being broken down for me
ReplyDeletei think pbl is already so far but some of us is using our computer for other reson instead of the right reason. i think we should go back to books and listening to the teacher talk.
ReplyDeleteits not hard, but its just the amount of work that we get that sometimes make it hard
ReplyDeleteIts gettin better for me,i can understand why we use it alot at The Peach County High Scool.i am learning from it and it is a great way to associate with group members and learn how too work together as a team too get work done.
ReplyDeleteill try hard to complete all benchmarks
ReplyDeletei rather go back to books because you have examples and also it was much easier. PBL is hard i dont think in college we will use computers all the time. PBL isnt getting us ready for the real world because this is a distraction from our real work.
ReplyDeletePBL is alright to me, i like the group work and working together that is if everyone pull their on load; at times the work gets piled on top of each other.
ReplyDeleteI don't think PBL is a bad idea, but I do think more thought and planning should have been put in it before they just threw it at us. Working in groups and having projects are good sometimes, but for me i like to do things on my own so I don't always want to be in a group. I do like the computers but then again they can be a distraction. I'll go with the flow weather we keep them or go back to the good ole' pen and paper.
ReplyDeleteI'm still adjusting to PBL. it's alot harder in some classes than in others. i like the group work and doing the projects. but i like doing worksheets and having textbooks around for reference and taking notes while the teacher talks because the computers are a major distraction.
ReplyDeleteI think PBL is a waste of time. I dont like it at all, mainly because there everything is done over email and hardly any one on one time. Another reason is because I learn better when i write things down.
ReplyDeletei have adjusted to PBL but i dont like it all. First we have projects to do EVERYDAY. Some teachers dont even use PBL is it was designed to other go overboard and give us to much to do not considering that we other classes. WE all dont have internet to connect to each other. Our grades are affected by others. Teachers dont even Teach so yes i would rather go back to the traditional way at least i learned and comprehended better .
ReplyDeleteThe computer distracts me all the time. I like to think that I can multi-task but I really can't. I also like having books because I learn better that way. PBL is great because of working in groups and such, but sometimes the groups don't work out at all and I get really frustrated with my group members because they slack so much.
ReplyDeleteI think that after first semester i have gotten use to PBL. But prefer traditional learning styles. I LOVE to right so i would prefer that, but i think that they came on too strong with the PBL.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion I do not like PBL. I don't like it because it's really a waste of my time. I would rather write notes from the board and have a textbook. What was the point of PBL anyway. It is screwing everybody up. And we do to many projects and being in groups ughh because some people want to do the work and some people don't. I would rather do the work on my own. PBL is a waste of time..
ReplyDeleteI have learned to be more adjusted to pbl but it is still frustrating to me because i have to submit most of my work through email and sometimes my wireless internet doesnt work so its hard for me to get the grades that i need.
ReplyDeletePBL is harder in some classes because the projects are harder and we have to do a presentation like every week. Other than that i like the PBL because it helps us prepare for college and the jobs that we will get when we graduate. i personally wouldnt want to go back to workships and textbooks...unless my computer keeps acting up.
ReplyDeleteProject Based Learning is NOT the best way for me to learn. Yes, I'd rather do more projects than busy work. But it seems like teachers are using projects as busy work. I have to remember due dates, check point dates, and who knows what else. It really wouldn't effect me at all if PCHS completely quit PBL. However, the more we use PBL, the more accustomed to it I have become, and the easier it is.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I don't prefer either. It really doesn't matter to me how I learn the information, as long as I can actually retain it.
I like the fact of using tech to learn, but i also liked listening to lectures to learn. I do not like the group work at all. It always ends up that i am the one doing all of the work. My other classes only use PBL half of the time. I think I like PBL better tho
ReplyDeletewell its been going well for me i like partnering up in doing projects all the tine but the only problem is that some people don't like to put there side of the work therefore making you look bad. in we aint learning as much as we use to do out the books but this way is more funner
ReplyDeleteI enjoy pbl event though i liked the other way when teachers explained the work, took notes and etc. Pbl is still alright as far as the froup work.. that is if everybody is doing there part and working together. To sum it all up i would rather quit doing PBL and go back to the old way.
ReplyDeletePBL has been good but also kinda bad for me. Its good cause I like working in groups. It has been kinda bad because we get so many projects at one time and sometimes they are due the same days. The copmuters has helped me to for resaerch, but it can be a distraction sometimes.
ReplyDeleteim still adjusting to PBL i dont like the many projects because i dont learn when imma doing this projects i liked the old way better
ReplyDeletePBL is harder because there are more work to do such as projects. i like taking notes better off the board while the teacher is talking because that's when i can learn about the material more and get a better understanding of it. we don't have books so therefore the book wouldn't be a option but if we did the book would be more helpful . i'll take a worksheet after notes are being taken . but out of all the 3 i'll choose taking notes while the teacher is talking .
ReplyDeleteI dont like PBL i like the old one better because its too menny projects!
ReplyDeleteI don't really care to much for PBL. I do like working in groups. But the computer distracts me and other people and sometimes the teacher cant teach because of the computers. I think that the computers show only be used if absolute necessary.
ReplyDeleteI have to some of PBL but i don't like it because you aren't hardly learning more than you are in the books and plus these computers aren't helping us none and the some of the new teachers that just can here doesn't really know what PBL means.
