  1. well pbl is giving me a chance to socialize which is something i don't normally do.my career consists of me getting along with others and working together.

  2. this will affect me teaching me to responsibility, trust, and respect

  3. pbl is preparing us for the real world by taking actual situations that occur in a job enviroment and simplifying them so that they are more easily understood

  4. PBL is preparing me for my future by teaching me how to work with others. I'm more of an individual person, and don't like working with people, but I know the career field I want to go into deals with a lot of human interaction. I also get really nervous when I present projects in front of people. So getting through that in high school will help me in my future with not being nervous.

  6. PBL at PCHS is not preparing me for my future. although it is suppose to allow you to trust everyone you work with, be responsible for all things that must be done, and respect everybody it really isn't. It is suppose to help you be able to succeed in college and whatever career choice you would like to go in. as of now, it is doing the complete opposite of all that. when you try to trust someone that you are working with, 9 times out of 10 they have failed me in doing what they were suppose to do, such as doing this part of an assignment while i do the other or something like dat. respect, nobody respects you because if they did they would respect the fact that you want to pass and would do the things that needs to be done instead of putting all the work on you. responsibility is not seen as much because every class that i am in, someone is stuck with doing all the work because one of their group members were'nt responisble enough to finish their work. so if i had the chance to do PBL somewhere else, it would be a place where people actually take trust, respect, and responsibilty seriously.

  7. So Shakia- you are frustrated with some of your group mates, but you think PBL would be okay if everybody you worked with cared as much as you? Is that how you feel?

  8. I agree with Shakia, PBL at our school is not preparing me for my future plans in life. We have to trust our group members, respect each other, and take responsibility for our own actions. This however is getting us ready for the real world, but this whole PBL is just getting out of proportion because its bringing more problems to our school and individuals in our school. Our school is depending on group work now rather than individual work which is what we will be doing in college. We are put with people who don't want to work at times and aren't serious about school at all. I rather be able to choose who to work with, but i know that's not always possible because of PBL. We can't go back to our regualar school ways because of PBL. The news is talking about our school because of PBL. PBL is causing many problems in our school system and we don't realize it. Get PBL together fully then bring it back to PCHS, but as of now I rather have books, paper, and teachers actually teaching rather than being nosey on Dyknow all day. =)

  9. I think PBL will help out alot in the future. Because you will have to learn how to work with each other. Some people can work well together some can not. In PBL this can help many people how to socialize with each other. Because many people don't get a chance like us to do this. PBL can help me when I get into college. This is why I think PBL can help us.

  10. pbl is basicly geting you ready for college? and for haveing you to do hands on materials and to be geting you ready to interact with other peaple in a work base

    ReplyDelete
  11. I dont really feel it now but i think pbl will be good in the future because it preparing us to work with peolpe that we dont know

  12. PBL is helping us for our future so we can get a feel on how to work with others since in the furture we will be working for someone no matter what position it may be. It also teaches us to respect others in the sense that we will have to maintain a postive attitude even though we may not agree on who we are grouped with . for example we might have co-workers we dont like but have to respect. this also teaches to trust because we have to trust our group memebers to do their group for the common good of all and responsibilty to finsh our work. so in essence this is how PBL will help us in our future.

  13. PBL is showing us real life skills and how we would address problems in the real world. I feel that it's helping us learn skills for real life and teaching us how to handle situations that may occur in your real job place, but it is also making school harder because you have to rely on other group members and I don't think that is fair for school work. You should be graded on what you learn and know in school, not on what other people know. I do learn best by hands on learning, so the projects do help me learn better if I am put in an efficient group. It does better prepare us for real life problems, but also effects our school work and learning capability. Some groups work and some groups don't, this is how it may be in your job place. We learn how to deal with these problem in PBL.

  14. PBL is helping me prepare for my future be giving me the opportunity to do some of the hands on work that i will be doing on the job. In the career that I will be in there is alot of writing/typing. Ive learned more this year than I have ever since ive been in school. I like PBL to an exstent but the reason I dont really care for the new technology is because some of the teachers dont really tach anymore they just sit in there chair in front of there computer fussing about every website you go on. I wish the board would have had all their ducks in a row before they made the decisions that they did. I believe in the trust, respect, and responability motto. I teaches students to have respect and trust for the new educational tools and equippment that we have.

  15. PBL is preparing us for our future in any and all career fields. It makes us think outside of the box. Instead of having book work, this allows us to use real life situations, problems, and exmaples to learn in a different way. In some ways, it allows us to grasp the concept more wholey when we can connect it to something in our daily lives. We're also going to have to learn to work with all different types of people. Every job site has the hardworkers and the slackers. The slackers in PBL are going to be in for a rude awakening when they enter college. They're going to realize that they're not going to be able to depend on anyone to do the work for them. They're going to have to learn to carry their own weight. The hardworkers are going to have an advantage because they've always had to do all the work, so a little college assignment won't be any different. If anything, PBL has made me a stronger person. I've learned not to put up with people that don't do their work and just telling them like it is. Trust, respect, and responsibilty are the key words in LIFE! Respect and responsiblilty will get you further than any other characteristic you may have. If your professor in college sees that you can handle any task he/she throws at you and you always hand in your work on time, they'll try and help you accomplish your goals. When you gain an employer or teacher's respect and trust, you'll always have it. As long as you don't do anything to make them question it. They'll always count on you to get the job done. PBL is preparing ME for the real world, but some people need to realize that they can count on others. They need to start doing their share of the work, instead of doing nothing at all.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I think PBL isn't preparing me for my future.I understand working in groups builds trust, respect and responsibility, but PBL also causes problems.I feel that you shouldn't have to be in a group to have respect, responsibility or trust. Those things should be automatic.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well, PBL is suppose to be project based learning and all of classes are suppose to do it. Your class is the only class we do PBL in. It is very hard, but it helps you comprehend more stuff and it also gives people an opportunity to get involved with other people. Honestly, i do not think PBL will help half the people in the school because half the people don't do the work. But for the people who do do their work, it teaches them to stay on task and use their time wisely. It will also help them become more sociable with other people. Now if everyone worked like the are suppose to in a group and actually do work it would be a different story. But for right now, you only have a handful of people doing work and actually trying to accomplish what they are suppose to do. And the people who do not do their work stay on Youtube and listen to music all day, and they still get a good grade because the other people in the group are actually doing there work. The people who don't do work think that since they have someone doing the work in the group its okay.

    ReplyDelete
  18. PBL is preparing us for the future in many ways. I can understand why trust, respect ETC come in to view, but in other ways its getting our hopes up. You cant just fire anyone in the workplace when they aren't doing their job. Many times on job you have to deal with people who don't do their fair share of work. you can complain to the boss, but odds are they wont care unless they see it themselves. Responsibility comes in to play when we get our grade for activity. that's the teachers role to watch what we do and see if we do our work in the group. and if the student has something to say about it then pull one of the group members aside after class and ask when no ones there. its simple. other than that i really don't see it helping much for job placement. When we get to college it will be all on us to stay in control of our grade. no one will be there to push us or ask us to do our work. if we don't do our work we will simply not pass our courses. There will be many ways to get our work if we miss it, but it will still be all on us to get that too. i feel like our teachers try to hard to make sure were doing what were supposed to be doing. if they would just trust us to do our work then maybe we might get some done. when you have a teacher constantly stareing over your shoulder or looking at your screen it can sometimes make it harder to do your work. It may be good on some ways. but thats just my opinion at this time.

  19. Kacey- when people are off task, they lose points from the Work Ethic Category, as well as Collaboration and sometimes Oral Communication. For Content and Written Communication, if it is clear they did not contribute, they do not get credit for that either. This is why I require every group member to turn in their notes sometimes- that shows me who contributed and who did not. It is as fair as we can get it, I think, even though the real world is not always fair.

  20. PBL is basicly getting you ready for college. But sometimes it don't help and it can cause problems. You shouldn't have to be in a group to use those 3 things. It should be automatic.

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think that PBL can help, but that it can't as well. I don't think that it hinders our future, but at times, I don't think it helps us. When we work in a group with people who don't do anything, I don't think that it helps us for the real world, except for the realization that some of our coworkers in the future won't do their part and we'll have to carry the load. It makes you have to cooperate with other people and try to work out situations that are a problem. It also makes you gain trust. You have to trust that your partners/coworkers will do their part so that the project will be done on time. It gets you ready for the real world. Sometimes it isn't fair, but life isn't always fair either.

  22. Pbl will help me in the future because if I perfrom my job and carry my weight of the task
then it will show my group members that they can trust me and i'm someone they can rely on.
Pbl can help me become better at being responsible. It doesn't really help with others respect or respecting your ideas. Or it may it may result with me respecting others.

  23. Honestly, PBL is not preparing us for college at all! In college, I’m pretty sure that we are going to have to work by ourselves, earning our own grade and not having to depend on other people to bring in part of the work. To depend and trust on someone who doesn’t like to do school work or to even come to school, is just retarded. I can trust some people working in a group but it concerns me that if I get put into a group with people that don’t want to work at all, then that leaves me doing all the work and that is just the same as what PCHS had before PBL. I think that PCHS should have actually thought about this A LOT longer because obviously this isn’t working out. If they wanted to make sure this was going to be successful, maybe they should have tried it out with a couple of classes or something. Instead of just giving high school students, who some aren’t even responsible enough to bring a pencil to school, laptops, which goes back to trust and responsibility. Working in groups is fun, and it does give a person a little bit of a break because all the work is not pressured on that one person, it is divided throughout the group. But my problem is to trust that everyone would do their work and turn it in on time. And even if someone turns work in, you have to trust that it is correct and not copied. It’s a concern that I have because I plan on going to college and being successful, and i have to know all the possible material I need for me to be near the top in my class. I don’t like to work in these groups because a lot of people just talk and mess around on their laptops and then we also have teachers down our back making sure we are doing what we are supposed to be doing….umm what happened to trusting the students and giving them more responsibility? Yea, they should have definitely thought about this a little but longer.

  24. With all respect, P.B.L is the worse thing that happened to my education.P.B.L sounds great in theory, but it obviously is not working for Peach County High school. First of all the thought of having most of our work come from groups is a terrible idea. The harder working members always end up doing most of the work, and have to tutor the others on how to learn with a laptop. Then we have kids that want to put their head down, while we have to make up for the work they are not completing. It puts a lot of stress on good students, and it would just make a lot more sense to have individual work.
Next, we have to deal with these terrible lab tops we are given. They always have technical difficulties, and children are getting in a lot of trouble with them. Not many of us have 2,000 dollars to give to the school if we break them!
Then, its a struggle to keep us on task when I could easily be watching a video all class period. Responsibility with the laptops are extremely low, Peach County should have thought this through before we switched to a computer based learning environment.
In most of my classes, I have not learned any information to help me pass the graduation test. Instead, I am stuck learning how to make a poster, or a power point. I am pretty sure I wont be making that many projects in college.
In conclusion, we should just get rid of New Tech, or have our school shut down. The work ethic of the students and teachers are low, and it seems like failure is the new drive of our school. Unless if our student body learns how to be responsible, we have a rough school year ahead of us.

  25. its teaching us how to be more responsible (laptops), how to work with others so when we get a job we will know how to treat and act towards the people who work with us

  26. Pues yo creo que PBL me a ayudado a confrontar el nerviosismo que tengo enfrente de las classes, y creo que me va a ayudar en el futuro para tener mejor communication con los trabajadores. Translate: Well I think that PBL has help me in confronting my nervs in front of a class while presenting a project and also it will help me in the future by how to communicate with my future co workers.

  27. PBL can be very helpful in life. It helps us learn to collaborate with our group members in order to accomplish our tasks. It also helps us learn in a way that involves projects instead of only reading and writing notes. It teaches Trust, Respect, and Responsibility, because we need all theses traits in order to be successful in our groups and be able to cooperate. Trust, Respect, and Responsiilty are the only things that will make us successful in life. If we do not trust each other, then the assignment will never be done correctly. If we do not respect each other, then there is no collaboration in the group nor will there be in your future career. We will always have to work with people we do not know or do not agree with, but we must learn to trust them and respect them. Responsibilty is the biggest and most important of them all. If we do not have responsibility, then nothing will ever be done. Our group members will never want to work with us again. We will develop a characteristic that is called procrastination. If we do not develop responsibilty now, we will not have it later on in our futures. However, PBL needs to be done properly everyone needs to be willing to do the work in order to be successful. In the future, if one member of the group does not collaborate and work efficently they will no longer have a job, but here many teachers tell us to give them another and another chance. PBL could really help us in the future, but not the way we are using it now. We should be able to work alone from time to time so that everybody can learn to be responsible for their own work! If the people that do not care about their grades, are always sitting their depending on other group members. They do not develop the trait of responsibilty but instead become more and more dependent. Therefore, PBL at this school has only taught me one thing so far, and that is pacience, because I have had to have a lot of it lately in order to put up with group members and this computer!! I believe that if a few minor changes were made to the way PBL works, then it would become more efficient and helpful to the students at Peach County High.

  28. PBL is preparing us for out future through us working with our peers and kind of depending on them to do their part in the group just like you do in real life when you have an actual job with people working for you or you working for someone. If you don't do your part you get a warning just like you do in real life and the next time you get fired. This new tech deal is pretty good but it has is hard times with us having to adjust to it since were not real clear with the grading scale just yet.I like it though and I'm making the grade so I'm not gonna go anywhere else since its working for me.

  29. All I can say is I've DEFINITELY learned to work and cooperate with the most aggravating, lazy people on earth. I also take my work that I'm given a lot more seriously, which I'm sure will help me in my future.

  30. PBL is teaching us how to work with others. It alos is a help to communicate to your teachers and your classmates. PBL also is helping us getting ready for college and the big world out their. PBL is basically hands on projects or activitys.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I honestly don't think that PBL has helped so far. I mean in some ways, yes, it has. But when it comes down to people getting together to work together on a project, they don't want to. We constantly have projects & I'm under stress all the time. I stay at school longer than teachers everyday. I'm here from 7:15a.m. to 7:00p.m. I understand that people have responsibilities just like I do. And sometimes it is understandable that they don't get all of their work done. But then there are the other people who get home at like 4:45 & spend all their time on Facebook or YouTube and don't get their work done & come to class without it. But there are people like me who come home tired with some kind of work on every class & I still do it. It doesn't teach Trust, respect, or responsibility.

  32. well PBL is helping us on our future because it help us to learn to be responcible and also to make youre group members to trust you and it also helps you to socialize with others...but there are downs about it to like in the group thing i really dont like been in groups because some times i dont get my work done for whatever reason and the rest of the group are going to have a bad grade because of me and they are going to be all mad and stuff like that thats why i really dont like the group thing.iam one of those people that like to work alone when am alone i get more work done because i dont get distracted and stuff like that i reather work by my self then in a group. But PBL has some good things for some people and some bad things for other people

  33. Thus far ,PBL has not prepared me for anything but for failure in my future! I actually think the students should have had a choice before administration chose for us. In each of my classes, I go in there and do the work but I dont feel like I am learning anything because for that time being I am actually into it but after we finish the work its FORGOTTEN! I need time to grasp the concepts in all my classes and the only class that is only happening in is MATH because PBL does really work in a math class(no offense mrs.copeland).And for the Trust, Respect, and Responsibilty it isnt working either.I dont TRUST people anymore because I found out some people dont know how to work in groups and they dont want to do the work. I cant RESPECT some of my group members because they dont give me respect so i have to either give them a bad collabo grade or just tell them off. Well, i have become more RESPONSIBLE by turning in work on time and being there for my group and that about it!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I think if pbl was done the right way it would actually help us prepare for our future. As of now it is not because everyone is not trustworthy, responsible, or respect you or theirselves. Everyone does not take it as serious as the other person. I think they should have not done this. They should have done it with certain classes that can be trusted, responsible, & respected. Even though you will always have slackers it would be less slackers than it is now.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Some of the administrators thinks that PBL will help us in the future but to me I strongly disagree with this PBL program. Why?? because if we keep doing project how will that help us in the future. Yes we are doing alot of group work but just think about it every one in groups does not do their share of work it seen like you have to make them do their work. Working with others can be a good thing and bad. But I really think working alone is better because in groups you would have to depend on people to do their share of work and turn in items on time and that's just to much. In the real world some things you will have to do things by yourself. I really do not kno why they started this i think this is just a waste of time and MONEY!! I know for sure that PBL is not going to last a long time. They really should of thought about this idea before jumping into. They should think before they do things

  36. PBL at PCHS as bee a big turn around this year.PBL has effected me in so many ways,im not really learning anything from PBL but how to meet new people.Working in groups is the worst thing to because everyone doesn't do there part. When going off to college PBL is not going to be helpful. When starting off in college we have to be indenpended and noe denpending on anyone else.Laptops have been a a huge problem dealing with PBL. In the beginning the teachers and staff members already knew that they were going to keep us off task. 80% of the students in PCHS are not getting there work done or failing becaus eof these computer. If i had a choice i would rather do things like last year then this year.

    ReplyDelete
  37. PBL, I think is going to help many students including me, the basic skills of working in a group with certain types of people. Its a good way of learning the experience this early because in the future at your job you are expected to work with people that you make not like. And there are going to be those times when you disagree on certain things. And thats why I think PBL is a good experience at this early stage.

    ReplyDelete
  38. In many jobs you have to co-work with others working towards completing the same task, working with PBL helps prepare us to do that in the work field. It allows us to do more hands on learning. Which helps us prepare for the real world and being in the work force.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I think PBL is preparing me for my future. Its showing me that I need to be more responsible and manage my time wisely. It doesn't however help us with trust and respect because most students here are very childish or ignorant and only come to school for the free internet connection anyway.PBL will help me in my future career because I've been working with different varieties of people and in many of my groups I'm the leader so its making me more alert of what i have to do in class so i wont let others or myself down

    ReplyDelete
  40. i also agree with shakia & yala they have a point. group work isn't always the best thing to do because in certain sitautions 1 person may do all the work & others may just sit there & your never going to learn like that. and i thought our school suppose to be professional or whatever i havent experienced it yet.

    ReplyDelete
  41. TO ME PBL ISNT PREPARING ME FOR ANYTHING IN THE FUTURE BECAUSE IM NOT LEARNING ANYTHING THE GIVE US NEW TECHNOLOGY AN EXPECT US TO LEARN JUST RIGHT OUT OF THE PALM OF THEIR HANDS IT DNT WORK LIKE THAT..

    ReplyDelete
  42. The world is based on Technology now and working with these computers in school is helping us get ready for the real world. In the real world you teacher will trust you to do their work that they assign you. Respect if the real world you have to give respect to get it, and respect will bring you a long way. Responsibility is something that comes with being grown and knowing what the real world will be bringing you. These three words will help you in many ways in school or where ever your going.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Well pbl is like trying to solve real world problems like the schools trying to get us set up for the real world like math problems we will face people trying to give and take cause in this world everyone is looking for a job and people are competing for these jobs like friends family people around the world.

  44. PBL is helping me alot with the work here at schools. I feel I am understanding the information much more clearly. PBL is definately a tool that i could use in college and in my future job.
