Happy Halloween! Instead of a benchmark in USATestprep, you have an assignment. Login to USATestprep, on your main user page click the tab that says "Classes." Make sure it shows you in your correct block for World History. If not, just click "Add class" and then choose Mrs. Copeland and whichever block you are in.
Then click on "Assignments." You will see a game assigned. You will answer a few questions then get to play a game. It might be lame but it's better than a benchmark, yes?

1st, 2nd, 5th: From Study Guide part one, Who do you think should be Person of the Millennium? Why?
(DO NOT nominate yourself)
4th: Do you feel like doing one mini-project a week is helping you learn? You all felt overwhelmed at the beginning of the year at how quickly 4th block passes. Does it feel less stressful now?
LEONARDO DAVINCI BEACUSE HE WAS TO ONE OF MOST TALENTED PERSON IN HISTORY
ReplyDeleteI think that Leonardo Davinci should be the person of the millennium.I chose him because his inventions changes the people around him.
ReplyDeleteDante Alighieri b/c he was a inspiration to others.I personally adored the poems he wrote.
ReplyDelete"Through me the way is to the city dolent,
Through me the way is to eternal dole,
Through me the way among the people lost.
Justice incited my sublime Creator,
Created me divine Omnipotence,
The highest Wisdom and the primal Love.
Before me there were no created things,
Only eterne, and I eternal last.
All hope abandon, ye who enter in" —Canto III
-This was a poem by dante.
I think Sir Issac Newton should be Person of the Millennium. (Only because I can't choose Leonardo da Vinci because he was my person!) He came up with many new scientific discoveries, theories, and laws. He came up with the theory of color using a glass prism and seeing the white light decompose into a visible spectrum of many colors. He also formulated and studied the speed of sound. He stated the 3 laws of motion. The laws state that a force is necessary for an object to remain in motion and for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. He frequently told the story of the apple falling from the tree that inspired him to formulate his theory of gravitation. For someone to think of equations, laws, and theories that are complicated and in depth should be Person of the Millennium. He dedicated his life to science and research, so that we would have a better understanding over how the world functions and why objects do what they do.
ReplyDeleteyes i agree on doing a mimi-project a week because we only have a short amount of time in this class. and that's what really slowing us down. but if we have less work then everybody should be able to have the work done by the end of the week. this week i think we did awesome everybody will turn in their work tomorrow i have faith in my classmates. if we have that option we will love you forever mrs.copeland thanks alot ! !
ReplyDeleteI do agree on doing on a mini-project. We can learn many things on these projects but my class don't have enough time to do our projects beacuse our class period is shorter than the others. Sometimes Ms.Copeland gives more days to work on it because she knows that will be best for us and she knows the projects will be complete.
ReplyDeleteIsaac Newton was a great scientist, physicist, and mathematician. He discovered the law of gravity which later helped other scientists with their scientific discoveries in physics. Newton also found out more about how light and color work. Along with that, he invented calculus and the reflecting telescope which helps us see things in a different way. Gravity was probably my most important discovery. Gravity is the force that is pulling us down to Earth. The universal law of gravitation lets us learn about the earth and other planets in the universe and helps us understand their movements. He also defined three laws of motion which is important because the three laws of motion explain how an object stays at rest or moves and the direction of its motion. The Person of the Millennium should be one who has accomplished many things in life, and is one who we can say that if it wasn’t for them then we wouldn’t have something we care about and need today. Newton is the perfect example because could you imagine living without gravity? Furthermore, I like two quotes that were said by Sir Isaac Newton.
ReplyDelete1.“No great discovery was ever made without a bold guess”.
2.“The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.”
In conclusion, when you think about it, many things start with us imagining it before it actually comes to pass. Do you think Sir Isaac Newton just woke up one day and came up with the Laws of Motion? No, it went from an imagination--->bold guess--->a great discovery.

ReplyDeleteLeonardo Da vinci. he came up with the ideas of most of our technology. like the plane, car, tank, and other things. he is a very bright man.
i think napolean bonaparte beacause he was the leader of the french reveloution; and he is known for his military success. and he conqured the impossible, and he is still talked about today1 and as in turn as a mini project- i think they are good, and that we sometimes have enough time, to be successful
ReplyDeleteI feel like the mini-project a week is helping me learn SOOOO much more then I was before! It's like we arn't rushing it anymore, so I can get the concept of the information better, then having my brain be stuffed with information. It is defiantly WAYYY less stressful, thank you <3
ReplyDeleteI think the Leonardo DaVinci should be person of the millenium. Not only was he an artist, as most people know him, but he was also an inventor. He had drawings of all sorts of inventions, including one of a flying machine in 1488! The Wright brothers didn't fly until around 1903! This in itself is amazing to me. He had many other invention ideas as well, such as a machine gun, parachute, and boat. Not only did he have ideas for these technological advances, but he painted artwork that is known throughtout the world, such as The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa. He was a very influencial man, and should be person of the millennium.
ReplyDeletei think it should be Michelangelo because he was known to be one of the greatest artist in the Renaissance period. He did David, the Sistine Chapel, and Pieta. he was also very influential he used dark colors in his work, and did Wet plaster. he also showed that humans could be beautiful such as gods which was not commonly accepted in the Renaissance period.
ReplyDeletemini project is helpin me learn....the time don't bother me none
ReplyDeleteI like the small projects we do weekly, especially when we work in small groups. They aren't as stressful and seem like less work even if they aren't.
ReplyDeleteI am in your 4th block and yes it can be very stressful at times trying to get projects done in a 45 minute time span. I do feel that the projects help me, but the time that we have to complete it hurts me.
ReplyDeletemini-projects are the best i love them.Less work for us but its not that stressful like the beginning of the year
ReplyDeletei finally got past the goats the game was actually pretty hard.
ReplyDeleteeverybody is choosing artist or scientist, but i think the Person of the Millennium should be King Henry VIII. Even though he did not make the right decisions, he did in fact change history. He was the person who had a lot to do with the English Reformation. If it wasn't for him, the Church of England wouldn't have split. He wanted to divorce his wife, and the Pope would never allow it. He went ahead anyways, and it caused the church to split. He got remarried to Anne Boleyn.
ReplyDeleteI believe Isaac Newton should be person of the millennium. He came up with many great ideas. I think it should be someone who's ideas were used in past and present and Newton's Law of Gravity that he discovered is still put into place today. Newton also had many quotes and ideas that influenced many other people which helped with many other discoveries. Newton was very intelligent and creative, he developed the telescope. The person of the millennium should be someone who is creative and thinks outside the box and someone who's ideas made a great impact. Newton's ideas fit this description, you can't live without gravity and his development of the theory of color impacts us today too. Newton will always be remembered for his theories and ideas.
ReplyDeletei think Elizabeth 1 of england should be the person of the Millennium! Because she was a princess & that her father was a king! THey will have honor and respect. : Queen Elizabeth adopted a moderate religious policy. The Acts of Supremacy and Uniformity 1559 the introduction of the Prayer Book of 1559, and the Thirty-Nine Articles 1563 were all Protestant in doctrine, but preserved many traditionally Catholic ceremonies. Although a Protestant she did not persecute Catholics with conviction - she adopted a moderate approach.
ReplyDeleteI think the person of the millenium should be Napoleon. I would recommend him because he was a great military and political leader. Also he won a number of wars, conquered many territories
ReplyDeleteand was considered to be a military genius. Overall he seems to me to be the best person to fit the 'Person of the Millenium'.
I know I am late writing this but I had family business business to tend to this weekend, but I feel as though Leonardo Da Vinci should become person of the millenium. Being person of the millenium shouldnt go to someone who has only contributed to one thing it should go to Da Vinci who has done various things and is known for his diversity! The range of his work was great,he was an anatomist, engineer, mathematician, naturalist and philosopher, as well as a painter, sculptor and architect. He was the ultimate renaissance guy!
ReplyDeletei think that erasmus should be the person of the millenium. he is the person that shaped the way of the new church system. back during his time church was really all about money. everything that you had to have done dealing with the church you were charged. he wrote and reformed against this and now church is all about worshipping god.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the Person of the Millenium should be Queen Elizabeth I. She had many obstacles that could have prevented her form ever becoming the Queen of England. Both of her parents had died when she was still young; therefore, there was a lot of controversy on whether she should or shouldn't be allowed to rule. However, she demonstrated to be one of the best rulers that England has ever had. She was able to restore the country from all the controversy on the Protestant Reformation. She also left a time period called the Elizabeth Era. She should be the person of the Millenium, because she was one of the first women to show that a women can always strive and work hard for what they want to accomplish.
ReplyDeletei think that Henry VIII should be crowned person of the millennium because he did very prestigous things. He was King of England from 1509 to 1547. He was second monarch of the House of Tudor. He was a leader of the protestant reformation. He separated the Catholic Church from the Church of England.
ReplyDeleteI think Leonardo Da Vinci should be the person of the millenium. He should be chosen b/c of all the inventions he made such as the tank, aeroplane, helicopter and etc.
ReplyDeletei think james cook because he is the most talented person in history.
ReplyDeleteI think Kelper should be the one.Him and gallelio worked alot together on just about everything that he invented. They were pretty much partners in crime becaause they were so good with design, engineering, and invention. He invented the telescope, eyeglass, pinhole camera, and came up with the 3 laws of planentary montion. He was a pretty tight character and had alot of friends.
ReplyDeletewill this a good start
ReplyDeletei think nopolean bonaparte should be the person of the mellenium, because he prooved to me that when he was the ruler, he steped up and took control of his country and all the peaple had looked up to him! and show respect! and he had took over a lot of country's and defeated a lot of peaple!
ReplyDeleteI nominate Queen Elizabeth for person of the millennium. She has been the most influential person in England, and not just for being the first major Queen. She has changed the church to protestant, and had influenced important playwrights such as Shakespeare. She promoted abstinence and is famed as one of the greatest rulers alive.
ReplyDeleteI think Leonardo de Vinci because he was a great person. He did a lot of things in history. He was also the Renaiisance man.
ReplyDeletenewton cause if it wasnt for him and the ppl who helped him we wouldnt know much about gravity and newtons laws of motion wich says.. "Every object in a state of uniform motion tends to remain in that state of motion unless an external force is applied to it." wich is that if an object is in motion it will stop if another object stops it.
ReplyDeletei think that the best one is leonardo because he did alot of things.i also think that this project thing that is going on it kinda help us but bot that much because we have to like research everything and stuff like that and when we find something we dont even knw if thats right or not we just write it down. i think that some time teachers should teach us stuff to.
